The Somerset Open Shoot

An open shoot usually held in April at the range of the Long Ashton & District Association at Flax Bourton, Bristol.

Course of fire:- English Match - 60 shots at 50 metres using the 3 cards system - to be shot in 4 Classes..

  • Gordon Chamberlain Cup. Open Champion (Highest aggregate score).
  • British Cellophane Cup. Ladies Champion (Highest aggregate score).
  • Baker Cup. Highest score in X class.
  • Colborne Cup. Highest score in A class.
  • Westland Cup. Highest score in B class.
  • Britannia Shield. Highest score in C class.
  • L.S.Powell Clock Tower Tray. Highest score by a Junior (under 21 years at the time of entry).
  • Veteran's Tankard. Highest score by a shooter who has reached the age of 60 years at the time of entry.
  • Boney Trophy. Highest aggregate for a team of 4.
  • Philip Mitchell Memorial Trophy. Highest aggregate score by a competitor who is resident within the current Somerset shooting boundary (as recognised by the NSRA).
  • Handicap Long Range Shield. Highest aggregate for a Somerset Club team of 4.

The Mjr Hutchinson Memorial Shoot

An open shoot usually held in September at the range of the Long Ashton & District Association at Flax Bourton, Bristol.

Course of fire:- English Match - 60 shots at 50 metres using the 3 cards system - to be shot in 4 Classes.

  • Silver Cup. Highest aggregate score in each class - prone and bench rest.
  • John Brown Rose Bowl. Highest aggregate Ladies score - prone.
  • Russ Shield. Highest aggregate score by a Junior - prone.
  • Veteran's Tankard. Highest aggregate score by a Veteran - prone.
  • Astor Cup. Highest aggregate score by a team of 6 from Clubs within the current Somerset boundary - prone. The Astor Cup winners will represent Somerset in next year's Final at Bisley.

Prizes are open to all shooters but trophies are restricted to members of Affiliated Clubs within the current Somerset shooting boundary (as recognised by the NSRA.)

Entry forms will be available approximately 10 weeks before the shoot.
